Information on this page will help you to understand what SOHTech can do for you and how to use the system once signed up.
A training provider could be an individual person who facilitates one or two programmes a year in a rented room, or it could be a small business with its own premises and half a dozen facilitators doing programmes every week.
At SOHTech we endeavour to create a new science called Human Development Technology which describes the skills and knowledge that are used when practicing techniques such as yoga, taichi, Feldenkreis and Alexander Technique and using them to help other people to improve their functionality. In general these techniques have been generated over time by various innovative individuals but their benefits are little understood by mainstream Western knowledge systems.
SOHTech has been set with the vision of gaining scientific and social credence for these techniques and others and using them to provide credible solutions to the many functional problems that beset humans on all levels of society. Part of this vision includes having government subsidies applied to many of these products for use in both health and education.
Using SOHTech is easy. First you register on the campus as a training provider, respond to the confirmation email, and you can create your first class or course.
When you create the course or class you will need to assign it with a location so that it appears on the location search. Locations are separate because venues are often shared between providers and providers often use multiple venues. If your location is not already available on the site, then simply create it and ensure that you get the address and / or the lattitude and longitude correct.
When you first create your class or course it is unpublished. To publish it, take it through the shopping cart (note that initially listings are free).
Your class or course will now be visible in the search. To add to the information available to potential participants also fill out your provider profile. You can choose which information is displayed.
Initially listings are available with full administration facilities for a 3 month period at no charge while the site develops sufficient traffic to make it worthwhile.
This offer may be extended and you will be kept informed.
Initially SOHTech is operating as a private business but once established, and we have put together a suitable team, it is intended to set SOHTech up as a charitable trust and operate as an educational institution that becomes eligible for government and other types of grants.
SOHTech will continue to operate on a contract or fee based relationship with private training providers, thereby enabling them to remain independent.
SOHTech will also employ facilitators as permanent staff and set up courses and carry out research itself.
The aim is to set up a physical campus or campuses wherever the demand is sufficient to further enhance the programme delivery service for both trainers and their clients.
The Mission Statement for SOHTech is to research, promote, inform, enrol, administer and provide a one-stop shop for human development programmes and holistic education to the population of the country.
Informal research (eg life experience) can lead providers to develop new skills. SOHTech would enable these people to deliver their programmes using SOHTech resources while remaining independent private operators. In addition SOHTech will employ people to facilitate courses and conduct formal research involving scientific investigation.
On-line campus (website) enables focusing of resources, and helps create a strong marketing image around the services that SOHTech supplies, which can then be promoted through other media as well.
Website information section and discussion forums provide easy access to relevant and up to date information. On-line training system enables comprehensive and easy transfer of information from facilitators to participants.
On-line campus enables self-enrolment, e-mails, discussion forums and many other features. Providers can administer their own course on-line and keep in regular contact with their client base.
There will be provision for training providers to have various levels of administration done for them through SOHTech, so they can focus on their training.
